Osimhen signing meaningless without Galatasaray’s success in Europe – Ataman

Turkish professional basketball coach Ergin Ataman has criticised the failure of the country’s football clubs to succeed in Europe despite expensive transfers in the last summer window. Ataman made the remarks while speaking about Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, the biggest transfer in Turkish football history. According to him, all this investment should be accompanied by success in Europe. “Football in Türkiye has its own economy. Millions of dollars are being spent,” Ataman was quoted by habersarikirmizi as saying. “There is no success in Europe. You see, my team is Galatasaray. Osimhen is 80 million euros. Okay, but is all this just to become the Turkish champion? “For me, the criterion is to be successful in Europe. To be able to reach the semi-finals of a European cup. “It is not necessary to be a champion. This has not been achieved for years.” Recall that Galatasaray signed Osimhen on a permanent transfer from Napoli during the summer transfer window. Osimhen signin...

The Sokoto State High Court has ordered the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, to immediately release the withheld results of 47 students of Global Kids Academy, Sokoto. Justice Muawiya Mahmud delivered the ruling after hearing submissions from counsel to the plaintiff, Ferdinand Okotete, and defence counsel, Kabiru Yusuf, while WAEC’s legal team was led by Taiwo Osipitan, SAN. The court held that the evidence before it demonstrated that the students’ rights had been violated, criticising WAEC’s publications against the school as damaging and defamatory. It therefore set aside WAEC’s decision at its 76th NEC meeting, declaring it “null and void” for breaching the right to a fair hearing. The court further directed WAEC to release the students’ 2023 General Mathematics results, noting that they were not implicated in any malpractice, and to publish a retraction and apology to the school in a letter, on its website, and in a widely circulated national daily. NUPRC disclosed this in its July monthly report, released on Thursday. According to the report, Nigeria’s daily losses stood at 9,600 barrels per day, bpd, the lowest figure since 2009, when losses dropped to an all-time low of 8,500 bpd. The upstream oil sector reported that between January and July 2025, crude oil losses were contained at 2.04 million barrels, averaging 9,600 bpd over the seven-month period. This represents a significant 94.57 per cent reduction in crude oil losses compared with 2021, when Nigeria lost 37.6 million barrels at a daily average of 102,900 bpd. NUPRC attributed the achievement to the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act in 2021, which has led to steady progress in reducing crude oil losses. Tinted permit: It’s our mandate to prevent crimes – Police reacts to NBA lawsuit

Image

In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, Force Spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin described the NBA’s claim that the permit policy is unconstitutional as untrue and misleading. According to the police, the policy is backed by law. The statement pointed to Section 2(3a) of the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004, which gives the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) or an authorized officer the power to approve permits. It also referred to Section 1(2), which requires applicants to provide valid reasons—such as health or security concerns—before approval can be granted. Explaining the rationale, the Force said: “The essence of this regulation is consistent with the core mandate of the Police to prevent crimes, as the permit is a critical tool for curbing violent crimes such as kidnapping, armed robb...
