APC dismisses purported primary results on social media as fake

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected reports announcing the outcome of its primaries, describing them as fake. In a public notice issued on Sunday, the party said it had not released any official list of winners from the primaries and warned members and the general public against relying on unauthorised publications. The disclaimer, signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, was shared on the party’s official X account. “The public is therefore advised to disregard any publication or report purporting to announce the outcome of the primaries, as such information is false and unauthorised,” the statement read. Edo: Police arrest two, recover vehicles stolen in 2024

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have recovered a vehicle that was stolen from its owner in 2024 and arrested two suspects in connection with the incident. The command also recovered another vehicle from the suspects. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, June 26, 2026, in Benin City. Ikoedem identified the arrested suspects as Emmanuel Afolayan and Ezikiel Aguele. Police arrest hospital workers over alleged disappearance of newborn in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has arrested some staff members of a private hospital in the state over the alleged disappearance of a newborn baby at the health facility. Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, on Tuesday freed 22 awaiting-trial inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ado-Ekiti, during his quarterly visitation to the facility. The Chief Judge said the exercise was in line with his constitutional mandate under Section 34(1) of the 1999 Constitution and Section 12 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Ekiti State. Nigerian govt re-arraigns Tukur Mamu on amended terrorism charge

The Federal Government on Monday re-arraigned Tukur Mamu, the alleged terrorists’ negotiator during the Abuja-Kaduna train attack hostage crisis in 2022, on an amended 17-count terrorism charge. Mamu, who was re-arraigned before Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja, pleaded not guilty. Mamu, who was arrested on September 7, 2022, by Egyptian security officials at the Cairo International Airport, was earlier arraigned on a 10-count charge bordering on terrorism financing. However, the prosecution amended the counts by bringing in more offences, including unlawful possession of firearms without a valid licence and money laundering charges. When the case was called on Monday, David Kaswe, an Assistant Director at the Federal Ministry of Justice, informed the court that an amended charge had been filed and served on the defence counsel.
