2027: We must bring normalcy to Nigeria’s electoral system – IPAC

The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has vowed that it bring normalcy to Nigeria’s electoral system.

The National Chairman of IPAC, Yusuf Dantalle, made this vow on Friday while fielding questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television.

He was speaking on concerns over the controversial Electoral Amendment Act.

DAILY POST had reported that IPAC threatened to boycott the 2027 general elections over the passed and signed Electoral Act.

Recall that the National Assembly approved the electronic transmission of election results, with manual collation retained as a backup.

Barely 24 hours after it was passed, President Bola Tinubu signed the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law.

The passage and speedy signing of the Electoral Act has, however, sparked widespread debates across various quarters of Nigeria.

Airing the views of the IPAC, Dantalle said, “Nigeria has endured 26 years of uninterrupted democracy.

“So, where we see issues of concern, definitely the same way IPAC rose in 2023, we will rise again to see that things are brought back to normalcy.”

The former Owerri Municipal Council Chairman, Chukwuemeka Ebere, popularly known as ABJ, has officially renounced his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
