Fire ravages telecommunications company’s mast in Ibadan

Telecommunications equipment worth millions of naira has been destroyed following a fire that ravaged a mast belonging to a telecommunications company in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred at Maple Leaf Drive, Alalubosa GRA, Alesinloye area of Ibadan.

Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.

He said that the fire was caused by electrical sparks from a generator.

He said, “The distress call was reported at exactly 9:50 anlm on Sunday, 5th October 2025, through a telephone call.

“The officers of the agency promptly mobilised and responded to the scene of the incident.

“Upon arrival, it was the generator and Pernel inside the cell site of the telecommunication company that were engulfed in fire. Our officers quickly swung into action and subdued and restricted the fire from spreading to other communication equipment on the site.

“No casualty was recorded, and the fire was as a result of electrical sparks from the generator.”
