FCT Police reject N1.5m bribe to release suspected kidnapper

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command on Wednesday disclosed the arrest of one Yahaya Saleh for attempting to secure the release of a suspected kidnapper who is under investigation.

A statement by Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, said Yahaya attempted to bribe the police investigators handling the kidnap case with the sum of N1.5 million to secure the release of the suspect.

Yahaya, according to the police, approached the investigators and offered the amount as a bribe to compromise the case and unlawfully release the suspect from custody.

Adeh said the police investigators, however, rejected the offer and promptly initiated the necessary legal procedures, which led to the immediate arrest of Yahaya.

She added that an investigation is currently ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.

DAILY POST reports that operatives of the command recently arrested some kidnappers who have been causing trouble across the nation’s capital.
