2026 World Cup: Meulensteen names country to win trophy

Former Manchester United assistant manager, Rene Meulensteen, has predicted that Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal will win the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He said that 40-year-old Ronaldo still has what it takes to lead Portugal to World Cup glory despite his age.

The Al Nassr attacker previously led his country to glory in the UEFA Nations League.

Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, Meulensteen also praised Ronaldo’s physical condition.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is still playing and keeping fit and wanting to get to the World Cup,” he said.

“Ronaldo has a chance of lifting the World Cup. They’re definitely a team that can progress. They’re definitely in with a chance,” he added.
