US DOGE cancels additional 179 wasteful contracts worth $1.87bn
The Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, led by US billionaire Elon Musk, has announced the termination of an additional 179 wasteful contracts worth $1.87 billion. DOGE disclosed this in a statement released via its X account on Tuesday night. According to the department, among the cancelled contracts is a $1.8 million US Trade and Development Agency agreement for energy and climate advisory services. The agency noted that the cancellations have resulted in savings of $280 million for the country. “In the last two days, agencies terminated 179 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $1.87B and savings of $280M, including a $1.8M US Trade & Development contract for ‘energy and climate advisory services’, a $207k HHS consulting contract for a ‘grant writing workshop’ and an $89k Treasury contract for a country programme manager in Namibia,” DOGE stated on X.
